Happy New Year 2008!

We have a tradition of having a really nice and fancy dinner on New Year's Day. And this year there was an extra special reason for it. Rich taught this couple in Brazil while on his mission. Antonio and Heleni were here in the States travelling around visiting people they knew. It was wonderful to finally meet them. I have seen pictures and heard so much about them, but it was so great to meet them in person. Even though we did not speak the same language. They only speak Portuguese, with a little English. So I spent the evening listening to them chat and laugh. But it was a really enjoyable evening. Rich's companion on his mission at the time was Scott, and he happens to live close enough to come for dinner with his girlfriend too. So Melanie (his girl friend), my mom and I sat there enjoying the night - in English with a little translating. We were so grateful Antonio and Heleni had a chance to visit the states, and we hope to one day go to Brazil together to visit them in their home.
