This afternoon we went to the park with some friends. Of course we made our way down to the duck area, even though we didn't bring any bread. The kids were all having a great time chasing the ducks and what not when the strangest thing happened. Max was pointing at the big black swan when...NIP...he bit Max's finger!! Of course their were tears, lots of them. But that's not the end of it. Then Peter was holding his hands near his chest with a little bit of bird food he found lying on the ground when the swan came up to Peter and...NIP...he bit his finger too, and it wasn't even outstretched! So now we are up to 2 crying kids. Sophie didn't really know what was going on and she came over and as she was simply walking past the mean swan...NIP...he bit her side! She was the most traumatized of them all. Luckily Biffy's kids escaped the tourture, but they were still scared of the swan. Well, we thought we had moved far enough away from the larger-than-Max Mean Swan, but he ruffled up his feathers and started to waddle after us! The kids were all freaking out, and Biffy (my friend) and I were trying to steer the kids away from the danger of the swan. It took Sophie a few extra minutes to calm down and want to play again. She was worried that maybe he might come up to the playground where we headed next. But then she got over it and the kids all had fun playing, especially on the "wheel of death"!! Thanks to Biffy for spinning the 20 kids around and around on it! Even Max loved it and Peter was having fun hanging his feet off the edge. The day was still a great day, and now we are fully aware of the mean swan. Next time we plan to stay FAR away from him. Even though Sophie was sure that he really is nice, and maybe he was just having a bad day...

That swan was scary! It's neck is so long, I was freaked out it would rush us and attack! I'm sure Sophie will never forget this park day. Cute her, trying to empathize with the mean bird!
